What is the warranty length for Amp Multi?
Amp Multi comes with a 3-year warranty, giving you peace of mind and reliable coverage.
Is the 125 W per channel rating peak power or continuous?
Amp Multi delivers 125 watts of continuous (RMS) average power per channel into an 8-ohm load, with all channels driven.
What is the damping factor of Amp Multi?
The damping factor is approximately 437 when paired with an 8-ohm speaker.
What if I’m in a noisy environment and my device can’t hear the setup chirp?
If the chirp is not detected, you can enter the PIN printed on the back of the unit directly in the Sonos app.
How much clearance does Amp Multi need for airflow if it’s not rack-mounted?
We recommend allowing at least four inches (10 centimetres) of space on the top and sides for proper ventilation.
Does Amp Multi support Trueplay?
No, Amp Multi introduces ProTune—a manual tuning feature that lets you fine-tune the sound for any low-impedance passive speaker and room. When used with Sonos Architectural speakers, enabling Optimise Sonos Speakers applies custom tuning and DSP tailored to their unique acoustic design.
Why is Amp Multi 1.5U in height, and how does that fit in a rack?
Amp Multi shares the same 1.5U height as Sonos Amp, ensuring consistency when mixing device types. The Rack Mount (sold separately) adds an extra 0.25U of space above and below the unit—for a total height of 2U—for optimal airflow and easier access without wasting rack space.
Why doesn’t the Rack Mount include additional rack screws?
To avoid waste and stay aligned with our sustainability goals, we only provide the screws needed to secure Amp Multi to the Rack Mount.
How do I assign the subwoofer output to a specific zone?
In the Sonos app, go to Zone Settings, select Connect Sub, and follow the instructions to assign the subwoofer output to the desired zone.
How many subwoofers can Amp Multi support?
Amp Multi supports Sonos Sub 4, Sub (Gen 3), and Sub Mini. You can assign one Sonos Sub per zone, up to four total. The subwoofer output port supports a powered third-party sub, which can be freely assigned to any zone in the app.
Why doesn’t Amp Multi include HDMI like Sonos Amp?
Amp Multi is purpose-built for bespoke, distributed audio applications. If you need HDMI connectivity for TV or home theatre setups, Sonos Amp or a Sonos soundbar is the best fit, with both offering the ability to work seamlessly alongside Amp Multi in the same system.
Why does Sonos Amp have two Ethernet ports, while Amp Multi only has one?
Sonos Amp includes two ports for daisy-chaining multiple units, supporting up to four zones. Amp Multi’s design eliminates the need for extra ports while simplifying installation.
How do the audio stream inputs work, and how many AirPlay 2 connections are supported?
Each zone can utilise a separate source or stream. If Amp Multi is set up for four zones, each one can support its own AirPlay 2 stream, Spotify Connect session, or playback from the Sonos app.
Is Bluetooth® supported?
No, Amp Multi does not include Bluetooth connectivity.
